Exchange Club
Members and spouses of Exchange Club of Cape Girar-deau had a meal and tour of Capetown Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau. Marlya Simmons, activity director of Capetown, was in charge of planning for the club to visit and see what the facility offers. Shamela Limbaugh, administrator, gave a brief account and the services offered.
Lamplighters FCE
The Lamplighters FCE met at the Jackson City Park for a group birthday party and the club's monthly meeting. Members brought covered dishes and the club provided the barbecue. Birthday presents were exchanged by secret pals.
A short business meeting was called to order by Linda Sebaugh, president.
Food items were brought to be given to the club's adopted family as well as passes to the Jackson swimming pool and coupons to Dairy Queen.
A short summary of upcoming events was reviewed. Several members volunteered to make calls for the FCE District blood drive, which was held on July 1.
The next meeting will be Thursday at the home of Bert Seyer.
High-Noon Toastmasters
The High-Noon Toastmasters Club met July 6 for its regular weekly meeting at the Church of Christ annex in Cape Gir-ardeau. The principle speaker for the meeting was Stan Cunningham, professor of mathematics at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
The discussion for Table Topics was vacations. Table Topics activities focus on helping a person overcome initial inhibition in the community process and thus become a better conversationalist.

Hobbs Chapel UMW
The Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Women met July 6. The program was presented by Juanita Henley and refreshments were served by Rosemary Whittard.
The mystery trip held June 26 was a huge success. Twelve ladies traveled to an unknown destination. They learned upon arrival they would be having lunch at the hotel in Ste. Genevieve. The trip then led them to the antique mall in St. Mary.
Hobbs Chapel UMW will host the Cape Area UMW meeting on Oct. 5. The meeting will commemorate the 135th year of the UMW in Missions.
Hobbs Chapel UMW will sponsor two auctions to be held in the activity building by Harlan Smother. The auctions will be held on Sept. 11 and Oct. 16. The annual fall bazaar will be held on Sept. 25. Tables and tailgates will be available for rent.
It was voted to purchase five new tables for the Activity Building.
New Salem UMW
The New Salem United Methodist Women of Daisy held their regular meeting on July 7 in the home of Susan Steiner. Jackie Kurre, president, presided with Barbara Brown voicing the opening prayer. There were 10 members present.
There were eight sick calls made during the month. Five dollars was collected from each member to help with the expense for the father-son banquet. The second quarter pledge will be sent to Epworth Children's Home.
Each member is to bring one food item and one paper product to the next meeting. These items will be given to a needy family.
The program was given by Steiner. Refreshments were served by the hostess using a red, white and blue theme.
Kage FCE
The Kage FCE Club met in the home of Dortha Strack on Thursday. Claire Illers gave a 4-H demonstration showing "How to do a torn wallpaper finish."
A large box of yarn was shipped to Romania recently. This was a project recommended by the Missouri Association for Family and Community Education. Members brought items to be sent to Jake Borgfield, who is stationed in Iraq. He is the grandson of member Neva Jackson.
Jobyna Daume shared a letter she received from a serviceman in answer to her Valentine greeting.
Barbara Marshall reported on the blood drive sponsored by the FCE Clubs of Cape Girardeau County on July 1. Working at the drive were Barbara Schaffner, Inez Statler and Marshall. Judy Moore and Marshall also made calls to prospective donors, and Strack furnished drinks for the canteen.
Five grant applications were submitted by club members for projects the club plans to carry out in the coming year. Five club members plan to attend the MAFCE conference in Columbia in August.
Suggestions were given for leader training topics for 2005. Vice presidents will meet on Aug. 16 to select programs for the coming year.
Edna Hey presented the program on "Forgetfulness or Alzheimer's Disease."
The next meeting will be Aug. 12 at the home of Marshall.
Young Americans 4-H Club
The Young Americans 4-H club met June 17 at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. Clint Heuer, president, presided over the meeting. Truman Kinsey and Gary Schweer led the pledges. Micayla Gray led the group in song. Members with June birthdays were recognized.
The minutes were read by Julia Weber, and Michael Weber gave the treasurer's report. Reports were given on clothing and entomology project meetings.
Thank-you notes were sent to Town and Country FCE for its donation to Clover Kid Camp and to Stephanie Shreve for designing the camp T-shirts.
Grey Illers reported there were 29 participants in this year's Clover Kid Camp, 17 Young American 4-Hers and 28 leaders assisted.
Clint, B.J. and Sara Heuer reported on their trip to visit the 4-H camp facilities. Heuer and Michael Weber reported on community service. They attended the Immaculate Conception Church parish council meeting to deliver the club's donation to the school building fund.
Joseph Yuede gave a demonstration on "how to make the perfect glass of tea" and Gavin Seyer gave an entomology demonstration on "how to make a kill jar."
A Missouri Conservation Department video on bird watching was the evening's program. Refreshments were served by the Illers and Yuede families.
Town and Country FCE
Town and Country FCE Club met Thursday at Cape County Park for the annual family picnic.
The club will donate fans to the Salvation Army for the July project. They will be delivered at 1 p.m. on July 21.
Club out will be on July 22 at Pizza Inn at Fruitland after which club members will buy a birthday gift to send to Kenny Heise, son of Shirley Heise. He is serving in Iraq.
The next meeting will be held Aug. 12 at Linda Thompson's home. It will be the annual international dinner.
