Nancy Hunter NSDAR
The Nancy Hunter Chapter of NSDAR met May 24 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club with a luncheon and business meeting. Hostesses were Edna Ruth Fischer and Sharon Rowland.
Dorothy Points made a motion making Rowland Honorary Chapter Regent. LaFern Stiver seconded the motion and the motion was carried.
The treasury report was given by Ruth Lang.
New officers were elected. They are: Points, regent; Carolyn Geittmann, vice regent; Lois Spalding, chaplain; Catherine Allison, recording secretary; Patsy Robert, corresponding secretary; Lang, treasurer; Mary Lou Lett, registrar; Fischer, historian; and Stiver, librarian.
Points reported on being delegate at the 107th State Conference held in April in Jefferson City, Mo. She brought back several certificates received by the chapter. They were a certificate of excellence to the chapter in the area of conservation for 2006; DAR Good Citizens Essay Contest, which Robert was chairman; the Missouri State Society Daughters of American Revolution for Level II Achievement for chapter under 50 members; the 2006 Outstanding Chapter Achievement Award to Katherine Tolson; Missouri State Society DAR certificate of appreciation presented to Points; certificate of appreciation Missouri State Society DAR of America Revolution for Membership in Tamassee Sunshine Club to Points.
A discussion was held about placing a marker at the flag pole located at Fort D by the chapter and others.
The executive board consisting of the officers will be called to order to make the program for the following year in August.
Oak Ridge FCE
The Oak Ridge Homemakers FCE Club met June 20 with 10 members present.
Barbara Popp reported that 14 visits to the nursing home with her Sunday school class were made.
Business included Marilyn Retherford having ordered food from the Angel Food Ministry of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland. This food was to be delivered on June 23 and taken to a selected shut-in of the club.

Retherford also stated she had chosen 15 books for the club and had taken them to the health department for distribution in honor of National Day of the Family. Charlotte Craig from the health department responded with a thank-you card.
Betty Dellinger and Carole Jo Byrd worked at Jackson Manor for the June birthday celebration. Dellinger will be the bingo worker for the Missouri Veterans Home.
Ruby Hitt and Popp will visit the Mary Dee Ford family as they are the club's adopted family.
Jean Rehak assisted at the Cape Girardeau Red Cross blood drive and Crader took cookies to the event.
The annual eat out will be at Olive Garden in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday.
The club will give a monetary gift to Jessica King of Heartland Pride Fast-Pitch Girls Softball team for traveling expenses to the Softball World Series in Florida.
Byrd and her daughter served a Swiss menu of desserts prepared by members and gave an interesting program on Switzerland.
Progressive Club
The Progressive Club had a mystery trip on June 27. Shirley Beggs and Bonnie Kinder made the plans and were co-hostesses. Members met at the home of Barbara Lorberg and Beggs and Kinder were drivers. The group went to Ray's in Kelso, Mo., for a meal.
Elvia Percival stated there would not be reading of the minutes or the treasurer's report but did have Lorberg pass out the updated constitution and bylaws to members.
The next meeting will be July 25.
