Alpha Mu Master
The Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the Royal N'Orleans restaurant for its annual end-of-the-year dinner with Joyce Hays, president, presiding.
An executive board meeting will be held this month. Members should call Carole Calvin if they have any changes for the yearbook.
The "program of the year" star was presented to Martha Slaten for her program, "Gifts in a Jar."
Perfect attendance stars were presented to Bernie Gardner, Judie Herbst, Vicki McKinney, Marsha Parrish, Marilyn Schwab, Mary Schwab and Calvin. Last year's officers were presented an officer's charm.
Herbst presented the results of the annual chapter survey.
Following dinner and the meeting, a secret pal gift exchange was held and new secret pals were drawn for the new year.
The monthly dinner out this summer will be held on the second Thursday of each month. The dinner for June will be Thursday at O'Charleys restaurant.
The next regular meeting will be Sept. 15 at the home of Charlotte Bess.
Nancy Hunter NSDAR
The Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR met May 28 for the last meeting before the summer break at Cape Girardeau Country Club with Edna Ruth Fischer serving as hostess.
The chapter was presented the Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution award for selecting DAR Good Citizen awardees. Andrea Leanne Schreiner won second place in the state competition for the Good Citizens Award. The chapter also received the 2008 Honor Roll Award for Level 2 Achievement for chapters with fewer than 50 members.
Missouri state regent Lemira Parks, Southeast District director Mary Lou Hill and Freda Blakemore of Chalk Bluff were guests at the meeting.
Parks installed the new officers. They are Ruth Lang, regent; Lois Spalding, vice regent; Doris Jean Arnold, chaplain; Catherine Allison, recordings secretary; Carol Geittmann, corresponding secretary; Dorothy Points, treasurer; Mary Lou Lett, registrar; Mike Stiver, historian; and Patsy Robert, librarian.
