Excelsior Chapter, Order of DeMolay
The Excelsior Chapter, Order of DeMolay of Jackson, recently attended the Missouri DeMolay Conclave held at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, Mo. Kyndle Brown competed in the State Sweetheart competition, and Caitlyn Burress finished her year of service as the Associate State Sweetheart.
The chapter won the chapter acheivement award, meeting all requirements set forth by the Missouri DeMolay for one year, most improved chapter in the state, second-place chapter proficiency and third-place Preceptor Corp. Also, the chapter qualified for its charter in 45 days.
The following members won awards: Dustin Sanders, rookie of the year and first place in the magnificent seven junior division; Tom Broussard, teacher of the year; Jacob Scholl, third place in the 200-meter dash junior division; Bobby Williamson, Drew Hinkle, J.C. Reeves and Scholl, first place in the 400-meter relay junior division; Hinkle, second place in the long jump junior division and first place in master councilor chapter proficiency; T.J. Bodenstein, Andew Scholl, Jacob Scholl, Williamson, second place in team bowling; Sanders, second place in the 1st Preceptor junior division; Bodenstein, second place in the 2nd Preceptor junior division, first place in the 3rd Preceptor junior division, third place in the 6th Preceptor junior division and first place in the 7th Preceptor junior division; Stetson Sander, first place in the marshal, initatory degree junior division and first place in the chaplain junior division; Williamson, second place in the senior deacon junior division; and Gabe Eggers, second place in the ceremony of lights championship division, master councilor chapter proficiency championship division, second place in the orator championship division and first place in the magnificient seven championship division.
DeMolay is a young men's fraternity sponsored by Masonic Lodge.
The Lamplighters FCE Club met May 18 at the home of Teresa Hinkebein. The meeting was called to order by JoAnn Hahs, president.
Information focusing on health issues was given to all in the form of a flower cut-out. May was Health Issues month.
A blood drive will be held June 14 at the American Red Cross Center on Mount Auburn Road. Members are asked to volunteer.
It was voted to assemble a quilt to be used as a fund-raiser for the family of a member's daughter who suffered an accident and requires long-term hospitalization.
A report was given on the garage sale held May 6 at the annual garage sale in Oak Ridge.
The hostess gave a program titled "Driving Uninsured, Driving Safely," and Gayla Volz gave a program titled "More Than Skin Deep."
The next meeting will be the birthday bash on June 15.
