The Lamplighters FCE Club met April 19 at the home of JoAnn Hahs, president. Thirteen members were present.

Baked goods were donated to the Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship barn dance April 28. Canned foods were also donated for a basket to be auctioned at the dance.

Karen McLane reported that a program on hummingbirds has been arranged for 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Nature Conservation Center. Linda Freeman, Roberta Seabaugh, Meyer and Hahs gave an update on food stand plans for the Niswonger sale at the Arena Building June 29 and 30, and July 1.

Cape Girardeau County FCE tours this year are to Springfield, Ill., June 22 and 23; the Muny Theater to see "Hello Dolly" July 10; and to the Kentucky Opry Sept. 8.

Linda Sebaugh, Cape Girardeau County FCE president, reported on All Clubs Day. Lamplighters FCE was the hostess.

Meyer expressed appreciation for all the cards and goody boxes sent to her son, Russ Meyer, while serving with the U.S. Marines in Iraq. He returned to the United States in May.

"Today's Farmer" magazine is looking for recipes. Deadlines are, for squash, June 19; for cookies, Aug. 10; and famous family recipes, Sept. 13.

Presbyterian Women

The Presbyterian Women of Jackson Presbyterian Church met for their quarterly meeting. There were 10 members of the Esther-Hannah Circle, eight members of the Perdue-Lear Circle and a guest.

Copies of the minutes from the last meeting were approved and Molly Lowes gave the treasurer's report.

A thank-you note was read from the Children's Foundation of Mid-America for the $200 donation.

Alene Friese reported that the ballots for the Presbyterian Woman of the Year have been received. A Life Membership will be announced at a later date.

Jonell McNeely, Church Women United chairwoman, reported three ladies from the group attended the May Fellowship Day with her May 4 at Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. The next meeting will be their board of directors meeting, which will be held at First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. The annual CROP sale and luncheon will be held July 13 in the Family Life Center of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. Volunteers will be needed to help. The lunch will cost $5. The Awareness Luncheon will be held in September at Zion Methodist Church in Gordonville.

Fran Reid, mission chairwoman, reported that the recent collection for the birth offering was $202.

Mona Hamilton, Together in Service chairwoman, thanked those present for their contributions of paper products that were delivered to the Safe House in May. A motion was also made, seconded and carried to donate $100 to the Safe House out of the Mission budget for them to use toward their needs. The church's basement sale leftovers were given to the Safe House Thrift Shop.

Jean Kurre volunteered to make six school bags to be filled with specified items needed by underprivileged school children -- a project of Church Women United. Mary Morton, Judy Litzelfelner and Ann Smith will purchase the supplies and present their bills to the treasurer. A motion was made, seconded and carried to go forth with this project.

Shirley Hutton, Carolyn Thompson and McNeely attended the Giddings/Lovejoy Presbytery Presbyterian Women's Spring Gathering, held April 21 at First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville, Ill. The Rev. Ben Martin was the speaker. Nine hundred dollars was collected to be sent to the Presbytery PW's scholarship fund and Uni-Pres Kindercottage. This is a joint ministry of Conference Church of Christ and G/L Presbytery. It is an early childhood education center in East St. Louis, Ill., which serves low-income families with at-risk infants and preschool children 6 months to 5 years old.

Under new business, Hutton encouraged those present to consider submitting a poem, story or drawing to a PW group of Giddings/Lovejoy which is planning to publish a devotion booklet this year.

Sybil Wathan, Giddings/Lovejoy Presbytery PW communicator, from Sikeston, Mo., was present to install the following officers. Those with two-year terms are Kurre, vice moderator; Ruth Tinnin, secretary; McNeely, Church Women United chairwoman; Reid, mission chairwoman; and Hamilton, Together in Service chairwoman. Those with one-year terms are Thompson, moderator; and May Belle Mackey, historian.

Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met May 15 at the home of Sheryl Smith. The chapter yardstick was completed and will be submitted to International.

Certificates were received from International for Debbie Balsamo and Cathy Pancoast for the successful Friendly Venture of the Lambda Omicron chapter.

Secret pal names were revealed and gifts exchanged. The chapter yearbook will be revised and updated.

A family picnic is planned for Sunday.

Alpha Mu Master

The Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at Royal N'Orleans restaurant for their annual end-of-the-year dinner and meeting. Bernie Gardner, president, presided over the meeting.

The chapter's summer "dinner out" nights will be the second Thursday of June, July and August. The June 14 dinner will be at 6 p.m. at Olive Garden. The end of the year chapter survey will be completed at this dinner and reservations will be completed for the 2007 Beta Sigma Phi Missouri State Convention to be held Oct. 19 through 21 in St. Charles, Mo.

Assignment sheets for the new year were distributed.

The following awards were presented by Vicki McKinney: Program of the Year to Mary Schwab for "Craftsman- and Sears-built homes" and perfect attendance to Carole Calvin, Judie Herbst, Margaret Little, Linda Metheny, Martha Slaten, Marilyn Schwab, Gardner and McKinney.

S1ecret pals were revealed and new secret pals were drawn.

The next meeting will be Sept. 17 at the home of Charlotte Bess.
