New McKendree UMW
The United Methodist Women of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson met on June 7 in the church fellowship hall.
Barbara Hartle, member of the Hope Circle, introduced the speaker for the program, Kathy Blevins, women's health nurse practitioner, from the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence. She gave a program on the history and services available through the organization.
Marilyn Fronabarger, president, opened the business meeting. The UMW will give $600 to the church to be used for children attending church camp. Circle reports were given with the Mary and Martha Circle having the most members in attendance. Reports were given by committee chairwomen. Shirley Patterson, chairwoman of education and interpretation, reported the School of Missions will be held July 28 through 31 at Fayette, Mo., and the deadline for registration is July 1.
A report was given by Barbara Hartle for Supportive Community stating a bereavement lunch had been taken to the family of Chloree "C" Williams on June 6.
The CWU CROP sale and luncheon will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 15 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. Mini School of Missions will be held in Sikeston on Aug. 27 and Festival of Sharing will be held in Sedalia, Mo., on Oct. 15. A planning meeting for 2006 will be held in the church fellowship hall at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13.
The UMW will not meet in July and August. The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 in the church fellowship hall with the Esther Circle presenting the program.
