Wonderworkers FCE

The Wonderworkers FCE Club met April 12 at the home of Dorothy Lichtenegger for a luncheon. Joy Engelhart and Lichtenegger prepared the meal with recipes on 30-minute (nearly) homemade meals.

After lunch, the meeting was called to order by Lichtenegger, chairwoman. A poem written by Ed Grebe, a resident of The Lutheran Home, was read.

A thank-you note was read from Darlene Petzoldt thanking the club for supporting the Jamaican Medical Mission.

A report was given on All Clubs Day, which was held March 26. A pin and certificate were presented to Lichtenegger for her 35 years of membership.

The project for the month of April was a house-warming gift to a community couple who lost their home in a fire. A reminder was given about the St. Louis Cardinals' baseball game May 24.

Lichtenegger and Engelhart gave a program on quick meals and Margie W. Reisenbichler gave a program on "Fairness," taken from the Fireside Series.

The next meeting will be Thursday at the home of Engelhart. The program will be a book review on bees.

New Salem UMW

The New Salem United Methodist Women met May 2 in the church fellowship hall. Eight members were present. Shirley Grebe, president, presided over the meeting.

Everyone brought four rolls of toilet tissue to be put in the pantry. Eleven sick calls were made. Thank-you cards were read.

It was reported the windows between the hall and kitchen will be installed soon. The UMW will buy a television to be used in a Sunday school room. A project for the Festival of Sharing will be paper products. A motion was made to buy brooms to be sold.

Flowers for the church will be changed by Margie Roberts on a seasonal basis.

A mission study on Pakistan and India was given by Jackie Kurre. Refreshments were served by Colleen Lukefahr, hostess.
