A potluck meal was served at the recent April meeting of the Oak Ridge Homemakers FCE Club held in the Elks Lodge in Jackson.
Mariesa Lesch gave a devotion using Proverbs 31 from the Bible and concluding with prayer.
Announcements were made that Meb Floyd would again make dolls for the Literacy Program in 2010, and that another "work day" making autistic blankets by county members would be held May 10.
Jean Rehak reported she had purchased a new camera for the club to use, make pictures for all club activities, and used in making FCE Reports.
Marilyn Retherford reported and displayed books she had purchased for the club to give to the new grandchildren of members in honor of "Day of the Family."
Billie Criddle told of her recent trip to be a guest and observe children riding horses at the Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship barn. She mentioned the help children receive and the love they have for the horses.
Pat Hecht presented the club bundles of clothes she had purchased for the club to use for Christmas.
Barbara Barks gave a program on "generic vs. name brand drugs."
The Alpha Mu Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Dixie Jones. Martha Slaten, president, presided.
Slaten read a letter from International announcing the theme for next year: New Paths to Friendship.
Members were reminded to bring items for the Safe House for Women and the Salvation Army to the upcoming Founders Day brunch.
It was also announced that Alpha Mu Master will be in charge of Beginning Day in August. Plans will be made at upcoming meetings.
The program was given by Jones. She distributed a test that was similar to the citizenship test taken by immigrants to the United States as one requirement for citizenship. Members took the test and discussed the results.
