Town & County FCE...

Town & County FCE

The club met March 31 in the home of Sue Jones for its regular meeting, as well as had the international program and dinner about the country of Switzerland. Members prepared different dishes from Swiss recipes for the meal; Jones and Linda Thompson presented the program about Switzerland, having visited the country last year.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and Club Collect was repeated by those in attendance. The devotion title, "What's the cure for selfishness" was given by Jones.

Carolyn Thompson led the group in singing "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

As the roll call was taken, attendees responded by naming their favorite dish from the international dinner.

Lois Seabaugh, president, presided over the group's business meeting.

Tentative plans were made for April 12 to disburse Easter bag goodies to the children at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center. It was decided to participate in the Relay for Life campaign set for April 28 to 29 by contributing $25 to light four luminaries in honor of Norma Schrieber, Margaret Glastetter, Seabaugh and friends and family members who have passed away from cancer.

The highlights of All Clubs Day on March 27 were reported on by the eight members who attended. Town & Country FCE was honored to receive the second-place ribbon as club of the year. Also reports were made on purchasing and delivering bingo prizes to the Lutheran Home on March 20.

Plans were finalized for May 13 for serving a food stand at the Poplar Bluff air show; May 15 for National Day of the Family to be recognized by presenting Golden Books for the newborns at Southeast Missouri Hospital; April 27 for the group's "club out" to be held at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau at 6:30 p.m.; April 27, southeast district FCE meeting with Cape County FCE clubs hosting the event for members attending.

Shirley Heise received the hostess gift, and the next meeting will be May 11 in the home of Carolyn Thompson.
