Best-of-show honors went to a quilt created by Violet Ebers of Steeleville, Ill.

Garnering the expert's choice ribbon was a quilt created by Sandi Heindorn of Jackson. Heindorn's quilt was selected for the honor by national expert and Perryville native Ann M. Hazelwood, an American Quilting Society Certified Appraiser and president of the board of directors of the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Ky.

In the bed quilt category, Miget took the first place blue ribbon and second place went to Janet Koenig of Perryville.

In the wall quilt division, a quilt created by Anna Lexow of Perryville was awarded first place, with a wall-hanging by Jan Stone of Josephville, Mo., claiming second place.

In the artistic innovation category, first place went to Ebers and second place to Heindorn.

Judge was Shirley Aufdenberg of Jackson, who also serves as quilting judge at East Perry County Community Fair and SEMO District Fair.

More than 150 people attended the competition at Trinity Lutheran School in Altenburg, Mo., which also featured a display of local quilts, both heritage and newly created items.

Those attending the show were provided a passport that allowed them to view more than 75 quilts among five separate East Perry County venues -- the EPCCA competition and display; Saxon Lutheran Memorial, Frohna, which hosted a quilting bee; Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum, Altenburg, with an exhibit of the works of master quilter Lynne Taylor of Cape Girardeau; Eggers & Co. General Store Bed & Breakfast, Farrar, hosting an open house and display of heritage quilts of the Eggers and Kaempfe families; and Frohna's Wine Country Inn Bed & Breakfast, hosting an open house including a display of local vintage quilts.
