The Torchbearer Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Gwen Nussbaum in Jackson. Linda Belote presided.
The service committee reported that a package had been sent to military personnel.
It was reported that Founders Day will be held Thursday at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson and will be hosted by Perceptor Gamma Omicron Chapter.
Judie Herbst presented information about an FCE bus trip to the Muny Opera in St. Louis June 16 to see "My Fair Lady."
Bernie Gardner and Carole Calvin presented a convention committee report.
Election of officers was held and they are as follows: Joyce Hays, president; Gardner, vice president; Herbst, recording secretary; Mary Schwab, corresponding secretary; Carole Calvin, treasurer and city council representative; and Herbst, alternate.
A vote was taken for the chapter's "Woman of the Year" award to be presented at Founders Day event.
The program was presented before the meeting. Gwen Nussbaum introduced Pam Johnson with the Cape Girardeau Crime Lab. She discussed some of the techniques the lab uses and discussed some of the differences we see on crime shows on television versus the reality of the lab work.
The next meeting will be at the home of Bobbie Woodard at which time the pledge ritual will be given for new member Patty Taylor.
The Lamplighter FCE Club met April 16 at the home of Verla Mangels.
Members decided to run the concession stand and supply sweets for the Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship May 9.
JoAnn Hahs reported about taking dolls to Missouri legislators on Child Advocacy Day. Some of dolls were donated to a shelter.
In observance of the club's 50-year anniversary, the club voted to meet May 21 at BG's in Jackson for lunch and then deliver children's books and games to area hospitals.
It was decided to have a bake sale at Linda Freeman's garage sale May 1, provide a breakfast item and a dessert for the district meeting and label books for newborns for Day of the Family.
Programs included stretching a food budget by Bev Meyer and growing culinary herbs by Margaret Friese. Meyer also provided a game, identify the spice, which tied in nicely with the herb program.
The May meeting will be at 11 a.m. at BG's in Jackson.
Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Tuesday at the home of Cathy Pancoast. President Susan Benton led the meeting with seven members present.
Minutes from the last meeting were approved. The chapter helped at the Special Olympics April 11 for a chapter service project.
The valentine money that was collected will be given to Frank the Fighter Step Challenge for the NICU at Children's Hospital.
Members discussed the chapter's responsibilities for the state convention to be held in Cape Girardeau in October.
Pancoast gave a program on 52 uses for coconut oil.
The next meeting will be May 5 at the home of Debbie Balsano.
