Jane Clark was hostess on Feb. 9 when the Kage FCE Club met in her home for the regular monthly meeting. The devotional was presented by the hostess. President Dortha Strack presided. Dortha's tip of the day: Wash the leaves of your house plants.
The February community service project was the Heart Association. A collection for the Heart Association Walk-A-Thon was taken at the meeting.
A drawing for secret pals was held along with a Valentine card exchange.
A report of the club members volunteer hours and book reports was presented by Inez Statler. The completed report was turned into the county in late January.
Judie Herbst reported that the Show Me Missouri games are near completion and ready to be distributed to the local fourth grade classes. The club has also received the evaluation of the games sent to the fourth grade class in Joplin, Mo.
Verna Downen, Jo Daume, and Sarah Ross reported that they had taken books to the Safe House for Women and to the Cape Girardeau County Health Department.
Barbara Marshall reported that the winners of the annual essay contest had been chosen.
The new club program, "Friends Forever Fountainbleau," begins this month. Members will send cards each month to a resident at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
The following dates were announced: leader training is March 19; All-Clubs Day is April 2; Autism Workshop is April 9; and the spring district meeting is April 24.
The program, "Emergency Preparedness," was presented by Marian Kramer.
Sarah Ross will be hostess for the March meeting at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
The Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR met Feb. 22 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library for the Good Citizenship Award presentations. Guest and members were welcomed by regent Sheila Holloway.
The guest students were introduced by Charlotte Slinkard. Edna Ruth Fischer and Slinkard were co-chairwomen of DAR Good Citizens Committee.
Essay presentations were given by Dustin Peetz of Cape Girardeau Central High School and Dustin Oehl of Oak Ridge High School. Good Citizens certificates were handed out by Fischer and pins were put on by the students' mothers. Holloway gave the chapter gifts followed by reception and refreshments.
The club's newest member, Sue LaBruyere, has received her membership number and Carol Cannon, a prospective member was our guest.
The business meeting followed.
The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. March 28 in the Penzel Conference room at Cape Girardeau Public Library. Chief Paul White Eagle will speak on the first Cape Girardeau Native Americans.
The Nancy Hunter plaque will be rededicated at 1:30 p.m. April 25 at Rush H. Limbaugh Federal Courthouse.
The group will participate in citizenship nationalization ceremonies on May 1.
