VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post No. 3838 met March 11 with Debbie Griffin presiding. All committee reports were read. There will be a meeting at 6 p.m. on April 12 for committee chairmen.

Reminder was given that National Home Awareness Week is March 21 through 27. Also, a reminder was given to keep saving Campbell's soup labels. Bingo will be held at the Missouri Veterans Home on March 27. Volunteers are welcomed. The next steak night will held on April 3, and volunteers and desserts are needed.

The ladies discussed bringing items for the Salvation Army pantry to the April meeting. The district meeting will be held May 2 at Doniphan, Mo.

A donation was made to the Kenny Rogers Children's Center Telethon.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. April 8. There will be a guest speaker from the Stars and Stripes Memorial Park in Bloomfield, Mo. The meeting will follow with election of officers.

Laureate Alpha Rho

The Laureate Alpha Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met March 4 at the home of Edna Hey. It was decided that a theme format for programs would be put in use beginning with next year's meetings.

Reports were given by the City Council and 2005 Convention meeting chairpersons. A mention was made of the birthday this month of member Dorothy Miles.

A discussion was held regarding the upcoming Easter Campaign brunch which will be held April 1, at the home of Bonnie Hennessy. A thank-you note was read from newly elected valentine queen, Erma Vaughan.

A program entitled, "Destination Cape Girardeau," was given by the hostess. She gave a brief history of Cape Girardeau during the Lewis and Clark expedition.

The next meeting will be held Thursday at the home of Marion Miles Edwards.
