Town and Country FCE Club

An international dinner of Argentina was the highlight of the Town and Country FCE Club meeting Aug. 14 at the home of Linda Thompson. Mary Klaproth and Sue Jones were on the international committee.

The meal consisted of dishes from Argentina prepared by members. Jones prepared booklets containing the recipes along with the history, map and flag of Argentina for each member. A program on Argentina was presented.

Thompson, president, presided over the business meeting and gave the devotion, "You were shaped for serving God" by Rick Warren.

Roll call was answered by members stating a fact about Argentina.

A thank-you note was read from the Lutheran Home for the donation of Bingo prizes.

Members completed the 2015 membership forms and paid club dues. Members turned in money for the July trivia calendar. Pennies for Friendship were collected. A back-to-school ice cream party was held Aug. 18 for students at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center. Members donated various items for the party.

Members were reminded of the MAFCE Annual Conference in Osage Beach Oct. 1 through 3 with registration due by Sept. 1. Klaproth will attend the conference.

The FCE quarterly council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson.

A motion was approved to give $20 for Pennies for Friendship to MAFCE. Members will go together to SEMO District Fair meeting at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 9. Tentative plans are for the club members to go on a one-day trip to St. Louis in late September or October. Plans will be finalized at a later date.

The following officers were elected to assume duties Jan. 1, 2015. Officers to be installed Dec. 11 are: Darlene McCain, president; Lois Seabaugh, vice president; Klaproth, secretary; Jones, treasurer; Donna Woolsey, reporter; and Joyce King, cards and flowers.

Club out will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Tractors in Jackson.

The next meeting will be Sept. 11 with Seabaugh as hostess. The program will be presented by McCain on Eating Better for Less Dollars. Members are to bring items for Jackson Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
