Dortha Strack, president, was hostess when the Kage FCE met at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center for their regular monthly meeting. Devotional for the day was each member told a good deed she had done for someone over the Christmas holidays.
Kage Club had its 70th anniversary on Jan. 13..
Several service projects were discussed for 2014. Members brought dolls for Child Advocacy Day for the January project. For the February meeting, members will bring Chap Stick, gloves, hand cream, etc. for Teen Challenge International of Mid-America.
Mathew Yuede was presented with the club's annual scholarship. He is the grandson of member Barbara Marshall, and son of past member Ann Yuede.
New folders and yearbooks for 2014 were distributed and compiled.
The next workshop for autism will be on Feb. 11. Members were encouraged to participate in this county project.
Volunteer forms and books-read forms were collected from members and will be compiled by Inez Statler and Marshall.
Kara Clark Summers will be hostess for the next meeting on Feb. 13.
The New Salem United Methodist Women of New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy met Jan. 15 for lunch and meeting at the home of Joyce Brewer.
Shirley Grebe, president, called the meeting to order with 12 members present.
The secretary and treasure reports was read and accepted as read.
Verla Mangels gave the devotion and told about the missionary of the day on the prayer calender.
The UMW served lunch for all members after church Jan. 19.
Fran Scholl CAP-OM, senior administrative assistant in the School of University Studies, Southeast Missouri State University presented a seminar and discussion to the Girardot Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals on Jan. 21. An active member of Girardot Chapter and former lieutenant colonel of the United States Air Force, Scholl called upon her experience and research in the area of succession planning to present her seminar. She discussed the importance of succession planning, both personally and professionally. She tied Succession Planning into Career Development, identifying ways to enhance hiring, supervising and many other aspects of a position.
Scholl discussed the importance of continuing professional development and engagement in all positions, especially when seeking a promotion.
Members with certified administrative professional and/or organizational management certification received one recertification point from this continuing education event. IAAP is an organization for any administrative professional that is seeking professional growth. IAAP is a not-for-profit professional association for office professionals with approximately 28,000 members and affiliates and nearly 600 chapters worldwide.
