Kage FCE

Dortha Strack, president, conducted the Kage FCE meeting Feb. 9 at Chateau Girardeau. Judie Herbst, hostess, led the devotion and Barbara Marshall led a Valentine word scramble game.

Eight members and one guest, Diane Simpher, were present.

This month members donated dolls for Child Advocacy and voted to send a donation to Project Charlie.

The county report form, completed by Shirley Palen, listed two major projects for 2016: promotion and support for 4-H and Military Mail.

Sarah Ross and Jobyna Daume were among county FCE members who attended the After Business Hours Coffee sponsored by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce at the Extension Office on Feb. 7. Exhibits at the meeting explained programs promoted and sponsored by University of Missouri Extension.

Herbst gave an informative trivia program about Valentine's Day.

New McKendree UMW

The New McKendree United Methodist Women met Feb. 13 in the church fellowship hall with 21 members present. The meeting was called to order by Mary Klaproth, president.

Pam Buck, secretary, read the minutes from the previous general meeting and the mission team meeting, and both were approved as read. One piece of correspondence was read.

Marilyn Fronabarger, treasurer, gave the treasurer's report of $3,222.18 in the local fund on hand.

Program resources: Klaproth reported for Marica Eggers that the club will be ordering new books for the library.

Spiritual growth: Julie Combs gave a devotion titled "The Price Tag."

Social action: Bonnie Blechle reminded members that the February collection will be for call to prayer and self denial and March will be for the food pantry.

Education and interpretation: Shirley Patterson reported on an article in the Response magazine on the Charter for Racial Justice.

Membership: Millie Rose was taking soup to some of our shut-ins after the meeting.

Mission ribbons: Elwanda Corbin has ribbons available for purchase.

The spiritual growth retreat will be held March 3 and 4 at Stony Creek in Columbia, Missouri. Those planning to attend are Doris Dace, Shirley Patterson and Klaproth.

Combs made a motion that the proceeds from the 100-mile yard sale go to World Service Apportionments. Pam Jones seconded the motion and it passed.

The Rev. David Israel gave a short report on being patient and impatient, listing some goals he has for the church and reminding members that we have to be patient for some to be accomplished.

World Day of Prayer will be at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ at 1 p.m. Friday. The country to be studied will be the Philippines.

The spring district meeting will be held April 22 at Fredericktown United Methodist Church in Fredericktown, Missouri. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m.

Several expressed an interest in a trip to the Bald Knob Cross and the Susanna Wesley Learning Center, and this will be discussed later for an April date.

Combs presented the call to prayer and self denial program.

Pam Buck suggested the group check into buying a portable sound system to be used at our meetings. She will report on prices at the next meeting.

Bonnie Blechle read from the prayer calendar and Doris Dace read from the charter for racial justice. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 7. Hope Circle will have the program.

Lamplighters FCE

The Lamplighter FCE Club met Feb. 16 for a club sew day and business meeting. By the end of the day the members had completed one quilt, two dolls and 10 lap pads.

At noon, lunch was served by the hostess, Karen McLane.

The devotion, "The Power of Words," was given by Karen McLane.

JoAnn Hahs read the January minutes. Linda Sebaugh gave the treasurer's report. Both the minutes and treasurer's report were approved as read.

Unfinished business was a discussion regarding the spring leader training and the members' approval of the bylaws. Strickland will let members know when the spring leader training will be held.

The planning committee for the international day meal and meeting will be Verla Mangels, Dodie Eisenhauer and Margaret Friese.

The next meeting will be March 16. Those planning to attend should meet at the First Baptist Church parking lot at 10 a.m. for a trip to the Altenburg Museum and lunch in Perryville, Missouri. Please bring dolls for Child Advocacy Day.
