Zonta Club
Dr. Laura Holmes, director of Women's Heart Advantage, gave the program for the February meeting of the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau. She stressed the misconceptions many women have about heart disease.
Zonta participated in the Habitat Trivia Night fundraiser and plans to furnish hardware and wallpaper two bathrooms for Habitat.
The annual flea market is scheduled for April 2, at Centenary United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 300 N. Ellis Street in Cape Girardeau. The sale will run from 7 to 11 a.m. Proceeds raised will fund service projects in the community.
The next meeting will be Tuesday at Holiday Inn. Sara Holt will share her trip to Africa.
Xi Nu Phi
Xi Nu Phi met at the home of Sheryl Smith for the Feb. 4 meeting. Morley Swingle spoke about his book, "The Gold of Cape Girardeau."
The club voted for the Valentine queen.
The club met Feb. 18, for dinner and to see the movie "Chicago."
The next meeting will be held Tuesday at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Exchange Club
The Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau met Feb. 4 at Port Cape Girardeau.
Cletus Todt presented Jerry Roe and Bonnie Arnzen of Beussink, Hey and Roe, PC, They gave a program on the tax law changes for the 2002 tax returns.
Merrill Simmons is working on the "Giveakidaflagtowave" program.
The March 3 meeting will be the "One Nation Under God" program presented by Vernon Auer. Spouses are invited to attend this meeting.
Eastside Homemakers
The Eastside Homemakers met Feb. 19 at Delmonico's Restaurant in Jackson for a luncheon. Janet Piepenbrok gave the program on "Items of Potpourri on the Presidents."
Minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. A thank-you note was read from Sally Powell. Items were collected for the Safe House for Women.
The next meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m., March 19, at Woodard's Restaurant in Jackson.
St. Mary CCW
St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met Feb. 20 in the school cafeteria for a soup supper furnished by the CCW officers and the February circle.
The St. Mary Youth Group presented three selections of "Praise and Worship" music.
Those who had birthdays in January and February were introduced.
Dolores Gibbar reported that 11 bereavement meals have been served since Nov. 30, 2002.
About 50 ladies attended Church Women United Hospitality Day held Jan. 25 in St. Mary Parish Center. Blanket Sunday collection will be held Sunday. Bring a hand towel and washcloth to the next meeting for assembling health kits.
Margie Huber requested favorite spring and summer recipes for a small cookbook to be available at the spring bake sale, April 5 and 6. New or slightly used white elephant items will also be sold.
Nancy King displayed the Grab Bag Auction item for the spring assembly to be held April 25 and 26 in Springfield, Mo.
Gabriella Kuntz will present the program "Peru," at the next meeting on March 20 in Maria Haus. The club will continue to collect "Pennies for Peru."
