Tilsit 4-H
The Tilsit 4-H club met Feb. 2 at Gordonville Fire Station 2. Matthew Golden, president, presided over the meeting. Eighteen members and 17 others were present.
Landon Hinkebein and Kelly Crites led the pledges, and songs were led by Collin Schabbing, Tanner Schabbing, Clay Birk and Matthew Brucker. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were given.
Caroline Kasten was welcomed as a new member. The club had two successful work days on Jan. 14 and 16 to work on the community project of making 30 weighted blankets, six vests and 50 lap pads. These will be given to autistic children.
Crocheting, foods, sewing and computers project meetings were reported on.
Cody Aufdenberg gave a talk on drill bits; Tanner Schabbing gave a talk on showmanship tips; Collin Schabbing gave a talk on twins in beef cattle; and Crites gave a talk on guitars.
The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. March 2 at Gordonville Fires Station 2.
The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP 4041 met Feb. 6 with 43 members present.
Robert Hamblin, Southeast Missouri State University professor, gave the program on "Cape Girardeau's Celebration -- 200 years."
There will be leadership training Monday at Piedmont, Mo.
Pearl Powderly became a member.
The next meeting will be March 6.
