The Town and Country FCE Club met Feb. 9 in the home of Darlene McCain. The club welcomed four visitors: Betty Brown, Betty Kobak, Judy Niswonger and one other guest to the meeting. Brown became a new member and Niswonger rejoined the club after a couple of years' absence. The devotion was given by McCain, entitled, "A Bouquet of Friends." Pennies for "Coins for Friendship" were collected. Members played a game called Know Yourself.
Sue Jones, president, presided over the business meeting. Plans were finalized for the Valentine's Party for the students at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center, where cupcakes and soda were to be taken Feb. 14. Members will then deliver bingo prizes to the Lutheran Home. Soda will be provided by Lois Seabaugh and Donna Woolsey.
Jones announced Klaproth had completed the County Achievement Form for 2016 for the club. Jones and Klaproth attended a meeting on Jan. 27 regarding club and county reports.
Spring leader training will be at 9:15 a.m. on April 10 in Farrar, Missouri. Klaproth displayed an appropriate doll to be brought to the March 9 meeting for Child Advocacy Day on April 6 in Jefferson City, Missouri.
The international dinner and program on England will be held March 9. Members all received recipes for the food item they are to bring for the dinner on England. The menu consists of cheddar cheese soup, Yorkshire salad, bubble and squeak, shepherd's pie, mushy peas, cabbage rolls, Yorkshire pudding, toffee and cinnamon apples, Queen Elizabeth's cake and basic scones.
A discussion was held to change the April 13 meeting date because of a conflict for some members. The meeting date has been changed to 6:30 p.m. April 11.
The weighted blanket work day will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson. Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center has requested 16 lap pads for their students.
Programs were presented on native plants by Brenda Pender and scams by Jones.
Pender received the door prize, which was a bouquet of roses. Club out will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Jackson.
The next meeting will be the club's international meal and program on England on March 9 at the home of Jones. Linda Thompson, Jones and Klaproth are in charge of arrangements for the meeting and program. All members are to bring a doll for Child Advocacy Day.
