The Cape Girardeau County AARP No. 41 met Feb. 2 at Grace United Methodist Church. President Laverne Mothdurft gave a resume of the board meeting, which was held on Jan. 26.

Paul Nenninger, a Secret Service agent for 26 years and now retired, presented the program, "Guarding the President." He gave a short history of the Secret Service.

Laureate Alpha Rho

The Laureate Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held their valentine meeting on Feb. 12, at the home of Larue Brown. Correspondences were read from International and applications for submitting recipes for the new Beta Sigma Phi recipe book were passed around.

Bonnie Hennessy reported on the last Cape Girardeau City Council meeting and Rosanna Whitnel gave a report on the most recent 2005 convention meeting.

Erma Vaughan, president, read a poem written by a member of a Paducah, Ky., chapter.

Vaughan was selected as the Valentine Queen. She was crowned by the reigning queen, Norma Schrieber.

A group participation program was given by Brown. Each member told how they met their husbands.

The next meeting will be on March 4, and will be hosted by Edna Hey.
