Lamplighters FCE met at the home of Gayla Volz for its January meeting. Jackie Kurre, president, called the meeting to order. The hostess shared a devotional entitled, "The Son." Eleven members answered the roll call with my New Year's resolution.

The following took place during the business session: members signed up for yearly committees and for the March leader training meetings to be held at the Cape County Extension Office; reports were given on the December council meeting and on the club's January Autism items work day for Oak Ridge School; Linda Sebaugh shared she had made chair organizers and had taken them to the school; information sheets about the county's FCE members were distributed; a discussion about making Dolls for Child Advocacy Day was held; a final decision will be made at the February meeting; members were asked for input on a new county project; in honor of member, Bert Seyer who passed away, members contributed money to the Missouri Foundation for Family and Community Education; and a thank-you note from the American Red Cross was shared.

Members were reminded of the upcoming meetings to be held at the Extension Center: March 7 -- quarterly council meeting, 7 p.m.; March 18 -- leader training, 9:15 a.m.; March 25 -- All Club's Day with Kage as the hostess, 9:30 a.m.; and April 9 -- Autism items workshop day, 9 a.m.

Verla Mangels read the club's by-laws and Teresa Hinkebein presented an interesting and informative program on Aphasia.

Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Feb. 5 at the home of Sheryl Smith. Members placed orders for chapter polo shirts and Cindy Propst will place the order. Members signed up to attend a social gathering on Feb. 24 to eat lunch at Giant City State Park in Makanda, Ill.

Members attended the Valentine's banquet held Feb. 9 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. Sandy Ross was crowned Valentine's queen for the chapter.

The scrapbook committee met and started working on this year's scrapbook.

Discussion was held on various service projects.

Members gathered Feb 2 at the home of Susan Benton for a retirement party for Sharon and Tom Hinkebein who are moving to Florida.

A Pledge Ritual will be held for Candi Brazil at the March 5 meeting.

The next meeting will be Tuesday at the home of Kathy Kiefner. Smith presented the program on Teddy bears.
