The Town and Country FCE Club held its Christmas dinner and party on Dec. 10 at the home of Alene Hamilton. Members brought side dishes for the meal.
Darlene McCain, president, presided over a brief business meeting. All members were present and there was one guest, Ella Mae Kuntze. Alene Hamilton gave the devotion, "A Recipe for Christmas Joy." Pennies for "Coins for Friendship" were collected.
Mary Klaproth and Hamilton led the group in Christmas games. New 2016 program books were distributed by Klaproth.
A brief report was given on the recent Cape Girardeau County FCE Council Meeting held on Dec. 3. Members brought Christmas treats and assembled the treat sacks for the students at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center. Secret pal gifts were exchanged and names were drawn for the new year.
McCain installed the following officers for 2016. They are Klaproth, president; Lois Seabaugh, vice president; Sue Jones, secretary and reporter; Donna Woolsey, treasurer; and Joyce King, cards and flowers.
King received the door prize.
The next meeting will be on Jan. 14 at the home of McCain. The program will be presented by Karen Murphy on human trafficking. The meeting will include a "pound auction" for a money making project.
Lamplighter's FCE Club held the last meeting of 2015 on Dec. 10. Members met in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge for a trip to the Yule Log Cabin in Commerce, Missouri. After browsing and purchasing Christmas treasures, the group then traveled to Cape Girardeau Regional Airport for lunch at Sandy's Place and a short business meeting.
JoAnn Hahs, president, called the meeting to order and gave the devotion. Roll call was to describe your secret pal as Christmas gifts were exchanged. Dorothy Hahs read the club's November minutes, and Linda Sebaugh gave the treasurer's report.
Yarn angels were made ready for delivery to residents of Jackson Manor Nursing Home. Approximately 70 angels were made by the club members.
Hahs reported that spring bulbs were planted at the Oak Ridge School commemorating the club's 50th anniversary. Many thanks to those who helped members prepare the flower bed and plant the bulbs.
Members were asked for suggestions for programs for the upcoming year.
There will be no training for programs before April 4.
The program for the meeting was installation of 2016 officers. Incumbent officers placed numbers on a Sudoku grid showing that each office is vital to the club.
Members drew names for their secret pals for next year.
Officers for 2016 should meet at President Hahs' home at 1 p.m. on Jan. 4 to plan the year's work and fill out club books.
The meeting was adjourned. After the meal, members went to Jackson Manor Nursing Home to hand out yarn angels to the residents.
