Town and Country FCE Club

Members of the Town and Country FCE Club held their Christmas dinner and party Dec. 6 at Pagoda Gardens in Cape Girardeau. Mary Klaproth gave the devotional entitled, "Time for Everything."

Klaproth presided over a brief business meeting with members repeating the pledges to the United States and Missouri Flag and National FCE Creed. Roll call was answered by members telling their plans for Christmas Day. Pennies for "Coins for Friendship" were collected. A thank-you noted from from Parkview State School was read.

Sue Jones, Lois Seabaugh and Klaproth attended the leader training meeting Nov. 16 in Farrar, Mo.

Joyce King, Linda Thompson, Jones and Klaproth attended the December Council meeting held Dec. 6.

Members brought candy to assemble Christmas treat sacks for the students at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center to be delivered on Monday.

King installed the following new officers with a candy bar theme. These officers will assume their duties on Jan. 1. They are: Jones, president; Seabaugh, vice president; Thompson, secretary; Darlene McCain, treasurer; Klaproth, reporter; and Thompson, cards and flowers.

Secret pal gifts were exchanged and new names were drawn for 2013.

Jones, incoming president, distributed the program books for 2013.

The next meeting will be the club's birthday party on Jan. 10 with Jones and Thompson in charge of arrangements. The club will have their pound auction and bring birthday gifts for their secret pals to the meeting.

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Nov. 20 at the home of Cathy Pancoast. The chapter will send a $50 donation for Disaster Relief for Hurricane Sandy.

A thank-you note was received from chapter member Debbie Balsano for flowers she received. A thank-you letter was also received from International for the donation to the State Service Project.

Discussion was held about the Rush to be held Dec. 4. Information cards about the 2015 Convention was given to those present.

Pancoast presented the program about a Mission Trip to Honduras that her daughter, Jennifer Pancoast, participated in.

The chapter met Dec. 4 at the home of Linda Biri for a rush program. The chapter welcomed Candy Brazil as a rushee, and shared introductions, a "sisterhood salad" and information about Beta Sigma Phi.

The chapter voted to send a $50 donation to Toybox. Biri told about donations of usable items that are being accepted at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson to be distributed to the Bootheel area.

There was discussion about other service projects and the chapter will possibly have a food drive after the first of the year.

Information was shared about the convention to be held in Cape Girardeau in 2015 at the Drury Lodge.

Chapter members looked at sample polo shirts and will check into the possibility of purchasing new sorority polo shirts.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Balsano. This will be the Christmas party. Members are asked to bring a food dish to share, their secret pal gift, and a swap gift.
