The Torchbearer Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Nov. 10 at the home of Mary Schwab with Marilyn Schwab as co-hostess. Thirteen members were present. Linda Belote and Bobbie Woodard were unable to attend. Guests at the meeting were Carole Rhodes and Cassie Calvin. Vice president Dixie Jones presided.
Gwen Nussbaum collected items for the chapter's "Operation Komando" project. These items will be sent to local men and women in the military.
Carole Calvin distributed registration forms to all members for the 2015 BSP State Convention to be held in Cape Girardeau in October 2015, and for the International Beta Sigma Phi Convention, a four-day event to be held in Kansas City in August 2016.
Margaret Little took reservations for the Christmas party on Dec. 6 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. Members and guests are invited to attend.
The annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange will be held Dec. 8 at the home of Judie Herbst.
The social committee also has a "Mary Poppins" movie/pizza night that will be held in January at the home of Bernie Gardner.
It was reported that the Fall Celebration that had been scheduled for Nov. 8 had been cancelled from lack of participation.
Carole Calvin read "Making a Motion" from the Book of Beta Sigma Phi.
Due to the absence of Linda Belote, Marsha Parrish presented a "Program Off the Shelf" and "Turkey Trivia," a multiple choice quiz about Thanksgiving.
The next meeting will be at the home of Judie Herbst on Dec. 8.
Xi Nu Phi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held Nov. 4 at the home of Linda Biri.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with one change.
The chapter welcomed one guest, Pat Leech. Plans continue to be made for the Valentine's Day social for the other chapters in the Cape Girardeau area. Those in attendance at the hot dog/chili social recalled the evening to the rest of the group.
The program for the evening was presented by Kathleen Hartmann. She showed her past weaving projects and then led everyone in a needle felting project.
