Fruitland 4-H Club
The Fruitland 4-H Club met Nov. 1 at the Fruitland VIP. Dustin Estes, co-president, called the meeting to order. Travis Roth led the pledges.
There were 14 members and eight adults present. Jill Walther gave the secretary's report and Blake Leadbetter gave the treasurer's report.
Members discussed the recognition banquet, celebration party and Christmas party/VIP Christmas gifts.
The next meeting is Dec. 6.
The Hobbs Chapel UMW met Nov. 1 at the church. The following officers were presented and elected for 2006: Christine Simmons, president; June Warder, chair; Juanita Henley, secretary/treasurer; Clara Engelmann, program resources; Therese Jones, nominations chair; Linda Cunningham and Bonita Caetano, nominations committee; and Caetano, programs and refreshments. The project for this year will be layettes for Birthright.
The Christmas party will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the fellowship room of the church. Both UMW circles will be invited to attend. Also, $50 will be donated to FISH, the Salvation Army and Birthright.
The Wonderworkers FCE Extension Club met on Nov. 17 at the home of Joy Engelhart.
Dorothy Lichtenegger was elected as the new chairman for the coming year. The Christmas FCE County Council meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the County Extension Center in Jackson.
Nelda Starzinger and Engelhart gave a program on finding your family roots.
The next meeting will be a Christmas luncheon and gift exchange at the home of Margie E. Reisenbichler at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 15. Each member is to bring a gift.
The St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met Nov. 17 in the Msgr. Huels room. Dolores Pobst led the memorial service for 14 deceased members with the assistance of Hazel Blank. Diane Schaefer, vice president, sent nine birthday cards.
It was moved by Judy Stricker and seconded by Evelyn Buhs that the group donate altar supplies. The motion carried.
Commission reports were given. One bereavement dinner was served in the last month.
Final plans were made for the Christmas Craft and Bake Sale to be held Saturday and Sunday. Kate Schaefer will serve breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Gail Timpe and Rhonda Ruch will host the children with Santa Claus from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The Christmas party and dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 15 in the Msgr. Huels room. Instead of having a gift exchange, canned goods should be brought for area food banks.
