MRTA Cape Girardeau

The Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Cape Girardeau Unit, met Nov. 6 at Chateau Girardeau.

The program was presented by Bill and Barbara Port. They just returned from Brazil and gave a talk on the trip.

The next meeting will be Dec. 4. The program will be "Precious Moments" and the annual Christmas luncheon.

Town & Country FCE

Carolyn Thompson was hostess of the Nov. 7 meeting of the Town and Country FCE Club.

Bobbi Price was in charge of the program and presented the guest speaker, Lolita Hayes, a floral designer with Knaup's Florist. She demonstrated and made floral arrangements.

The business session was conducted by Sue Jones. Members turned in their quilt money with the quilt to be raffled on the Dec. 5 council meeting. A report was given concerning the successful garage sale at the Osage Community Center on Nov. 2 with profits being used for community projects. Members all brought Christmas cards to be mailed to military personnel. Norma Schreiber will be in charge of mailing the cards. Members voted to give $25 to the Salvation Army Thanksgiving Meal and $25 to the Tree of Lights.

Members will gather at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 23, to place their decorations in North Cape County Park. Jones will be in charge of placing the Christmas decorations in the Jackson City Park.

Members brought food items to be taken to the Jackson Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

Shirley Heise and Jones will be attending the Leader Training Meeting Nov. 8 at Altenburg, Mo.

Club out will be at Red Lobster at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 21.

The December council meeting will be on Dec. 5 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson.

Members will meet at 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Pizza Hut to go on the Jackson Home Tour.

The next meeting will be the club's Christmas party at Reflections Restaurant in Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. Members are to bring toys for Toybox and their secret pal gift. Officers will be installed for 2003 at this meeting.
