St. Marks Order of the Eastern Star

St. Marks Chapter 167, Order of the Eastern Star, challenged its members to collect soda tabs over the summer. The tabs collected were given to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in St. Louis. This charity assists parents and families of critically ill children by providing support and housing, as well as other needed services.

To promote participation, the Worthy Matron, Jan McClanahan, provided a $40 gift certificate to the winner. Barbara Froman collected 1,150 soda tabs and claimed the prize. All enjoyed the friendly competition and the chapter is considering having it again next year.

National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution

The Southeast District meeting was held Sept. 25 at Cape Girardeau Country Club. Nancy Hunter Chapter hosted the event and district director Judy Mahal conducted the meeting.

Members of the John Guild Chapter present for the meeting were: Lorilee Short, chapter treasurer and state corresponding secretary; Morgan Lake, chapter registrar and state regent; Beth Biri, chapter historian and state vice chair junior sales; Cheryl Cook, State Bluebird Transportation co-chair; Shirley Young, publicity; Jan Chamberlain, national defense; Julie Robinson, chapter vice regent; Pam Johnson, state protocol committee; Linda Hutson, chapter parliamentarian; Jerre Crist, DAR magazine; Gwen Nusbaum, chaplain; and Marti Strickland, chapter regent.

John Guild Chapter NSDAR

The John Guild Chapter named Beth Biri as chapter outstanding junior. She will compete at the 2016 Missouri State DAR Conference to represent Missouri as the State Outstanding Junior.

She is state vice chairman junior sales, chapter historian, junior membership chairman, DAR service for veterans.
