Friendship Club

The Friendship Club met Jan. 14 at the home of Ruth Nischwitz. After the pledge, Lola Wessell gave a reading, "New Year's Prayers."

Programs were planned for the coming year and distributed to the members present.

Nine members and one visitor, Olga Meyr, were present.

Wessell will host the February meeting.

Couples Club

The Couples Club of Third Street United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau met Jan. 21 at the home of Med Baker for a chili supper.

A short business meeting was held to plan a gospel singing and three-day revival.

Sixteen members were present. The Couples Club meets once a month at various members' homes or in the church recreation hall.

Alpha Rho of BSP

The Alpha Rho of Beta Sigma Phi met Jan. 23 at the home of Marion Miles Edwards at Saxony Manor.

Edwards gave the program on Chick-Fil-A founder S. Truitt Cathy.

Reports were given on letters received from service men and women answering those the club mailed to them at Christmas.

Rosie Whitnel reported on the city council meeting where plans for the Beta Sigma Phi state meeting were announced and plans for attending were made. The state meeting will be held Oct. 24 through 26 in Jefferson City.

The All-Chapter Valentine dinner will be held Feb. 12 at Centenary United Methodist Church, hosted by Xi Epsilon Nu.

A donation of $26 will be given to the Missouri State Service Project for Matthew Pearl of Ballwin, Mo., son of a Beta Sigma Phi member. He is in need of medical assistance.

Pledge training was held for Mary Ann Nenninger.

Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR

The Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR met Jan. 22 at the home of LaFern Stiver. Regent Katherine Tolson led the group in rituals. Catherine Allison introduced the guest speaker, Retired Col. C.W. "Dub" Suedekum. He spoke about the national defense and told about changing military focus, which was followed by a question and answer session.

Dorothy Points read the president general's message. Jeannine McGinnis gave the National Defense report.

The minutes were read and approved. Nancy Wilson gave the treasury report.

A letter was received from Barbara Seemers requesting an application for scholarship material that also needed a letter of recommendation.

Points was appointed historian in absence of Mary Lee Rasmussen.

Old Bible records or family records were requested to be turned in to Jan Chamberlain.

Hostesses were Marian LaFoe and Stiver.

The next meeting will be Feb. 26 in the Hirsch Room at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. It will be a Good Citizens and American History Awards meeting.

Xi Nu Phi

Xi Nu Phi met Jan. 21 at the home of Cindy Propst. A preceptor ritual was held for five members.

The Valentine's queen was selected and the club voted to send $25 to the Missouri Beta Sigma Phi State Service Project.

Three more contributions were received for the Chromosome 18 Research project.

The next meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 4 at the home of Cheryl Smith.

The Valentine's banquet will be Feb. 12 at Centenary United Methodist Church.
