Town and Country FCE Club

The Town and Country FCE Club met Jan. 8 at the home of Darlene McCain for the annual birthday party. Karen Murphy assisted the hostess and gave each member a cupcake as a take home favor. Members attending received cards from their secret pals. All members were present for the meeting.

The new president, McCain, presided over the business meeting. Members welcomed a visitor, Alene Hamilton, who later joined the club. McCain gave the devotion taken from Matthew 6:25-34. Roll call was answered by members stating if they made a New Year's resolution and the date of their birthdays. Pennies for Friendship were collected.

Sue Jones was thanked for being in charge of taking down the Christmas decorations in the Cape Girardeau County and Jackson City parks. Christmas treat sacks were taken to Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center Dec. 17.

McCain read the club's constitution. Members will plan to continue most of the same projects in 2015 as done in past years. Plans were made to have a Valentine party for the students at Cottonwood. The date will be announced later.

The club will be hosting All Club's Day March 23 and plans were discussed. It was decided to have the meal catered at a cost of $10 with Town and Country FCE members furnishing the morning refreshments and desserts for lunch. Reservations will be requested. Plans will be finalized at the Feb. 12 meeting. McCain discussed plans for the programs for All Club's Day.

Members turned in their volunteer hours and Golden Bookmark reports and new forms were distributed for 2015.

Jones presented the program on the craft of Scherenschnitte (paper cutting.) She displayed a Christmas ornament she had made and showed designs that could be used for other ornaments. In addition, all members read portions of Hearth Fire #25, Someone's In Their Home Asking ...What Records Should I Keep?

A pound auction was held as a money making project for the club. The door prize was won by Jones. Club out will be at BG's Olde Tyme Deli in Jackson at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The next meting will be in the home of Mary Klaproth at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12. Lois Seabaugh will present the program on The New Missouri Mix.
