Smith's Spring Collector Car Auction returns to the Show Me Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday with approximately 200 cars on display or for sale.
"We've got a little bit of everything from street rods to muscle cars," according to Sherm Smith, owner of Smith Auction Company in Dexter, Mo.
The company, in its 19th year, will feature collector automobiles from the 1930s through the 1960s. It hosts about four auctions per year.
"We do a spring and summer show at the Show Me Center plus one in Paducah, Ky., and one in Jonesboro, Ark., each year. We also do an estate sale or two a year," Smith said.
The auction draws collectors from several area states and beyond, and Smith expects more than 1,000 people to attend.
"We usually have buyers and sellers from about a 500-mile range," he said. "Occasionally, we'll have someone fly in from Texas or Florida."
The auction attracts serious buyers and sellers, as well as hobbyists and the curious.
Since his high school days in the 1950s, Smith said he has been hooked on cool cars; he still drives and restores classic cars.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children over 12, with children 12 and under admitted for free. Tickets may be purchased at the Show Me Center box office.
