Clark recently graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is the son of Janet Clark of Perryville, Mo., and the late John C. Clark; grandson of Marie Voelker and the late Lawrence Voelker. His great-grandfather, the late Glenton Welker, managed Rozier's hardware department in Perryville for more than 50 years.

Cheney delivered the commencement address to more than 800 students in the graduating class of 2003. Clark received a bachelor of science degree with a major in French and German languages. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He is assigned to an Infantry Division and is stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., to receive an additional year of officer schooling.
