* Two candidates for the Cape Girardeau City Council Ward 3 race have provided a list of awards and recognition they have received.
* Stan Wicks received the 2003 Businessman of the Year Award from the National Republican Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council and the Republican of the Year Award in 2000 from the National Republican Congressional Committee. He was recognized in the Who's Who National Register of Executives and Professionals in the 2001-2002 edition. He was mentioned in USA Today as one of Missouri's top businessmen in 2002. His At Your Service Co. received a certificate of appreciation for its support of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Red House Project. He has been involved in the girls softball league and is senior league president. He served on the board of directors of the Civic Center from 1995 to 1999 and helped convert it to the Boys and Girls Clubs. He served on the board of Restorative Justice of the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole, and on the Invest for Cape city advisory board. For March 2005, he was the honorary chairman of the local NRA chapter.
* R. Todd McBride is a former board member of the Greater Cape Girardeau Historical Society and the Missouri Board of Realtors. He was one of the original members of the Vision 2000 organization. He is a member of the Missouri Association of Mortgage Professionals and the National Association of Mortgage Professionals. He has received numerous broker awards for being a leader in the mortgage industry. He is a member of the National Historical Society and is listed in Who's Who in Business. He was named Outstanding Young Businessman and has been active in fund-raising drives for the Cancer Association, United Way and the March of Dimes.
