The city of Cape Girardeau on Wednesday began welcoming new residents with information packets.
"The packet is designed to provide critical information about our city government and the services we provide," said Sherri Finley, public awareness coordinator.
"If you are a new resident in our community, it may take several months to collect all the information vital to your working and living in Cape Girardeau," she said. "Our information packet will put city information at the fingertips of our new citizens," she said.
New residents will be given the packets when they sign up for water service. They are available in the utility billing department at City Hall or can be requested from the public awareness office by calling 335-8556.
The packets include a welcome letter from Mayor Al Spradling III, a brief explanation of the city's governing structure, telephone numbers of city departments and services, and informational brochures about specific city services.
