Prior to the meeting, City Clerk Mary Thompson said, "Our goal has been to design a bill that would answer most of the questions our citizens have about their utility bill."

Instead of a postcard, the new bill is 8 1/2 by 11 inches and will be mailed in an envelope. The expanded format will provide more information to utility customers, Thompson said.

"It is important," Thompson said, "that our citizens realize there has been no change in the amount of these charges. We have just separated them on the bill so the citizens can better understand the charges."
