Cape Girardeau's wastewater treatment coordinator, Dennis Hale, was recognized for his devotion and service to the water and wastewater industry as the 2002 recipient of the Robert S. Miller Award presented by the Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference (MWWC).
A city employee for more than 25 years, Hale has worked almost every job at the wastewater plant. He was voted Public Works Employee of the Year, proved instrumental during flood events, and served on numerous city committees.
Hale has held the MWWC positions of Southeast Section Chairman for Missouri Water & Wastewater Conference and secretary and treasurer of MWWC Southeast Section. He was previously elected Outstanding Wastewater Plant Operator of the Year and awarded the Chairman's Award by the Southeast Section of the MWWC.
