The bump drivers feel on Lexington Avenue between Kingshighway and Carolina Lane is getting fixed.
Old asphalt will be removed, starting Friday at 8:30 a.m. and will be done before the afternoon commute begins, according to Geoff Dial, special projects coordinator for Cape Girardeau's public works department.
Traffic will be shifted 10 feet during the repair work.
Friday's goal is to remove two inches of shoulder pavement.
Two other roads will be improved. Old asphalt will be removed on Spanish Street between Second and Fourth streets and Plaza Way from William to Bloomfield streets.
New asphalt will be applied in approximately two weeks, Dial said.
