CIRCUIT CITY OPENS HERE NEXT WEEK

Circuit City, a retailer of brand-name consumer electronics and major appliances, will open here next week.

Grand opening ceremonies area planned at the company's newest store, located at 164 Siemers in Cape West Business Park, Friday.

Business hours for the new, 17,000 square foot store will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m Sunday.

Glenn Flynn is manager of the new stores.

The Circuit City Group conducts business in a number of operations -- Circuit City Superstores, ranging in size from 15,000 to 45,000 square feet; Circuit City Express, mall-based electronic stores, typically about 3,000 square feet; free-standing electronic stores; mobile electronic installation centers for car audio and security systems; and product repair facilities to provide factory-authorized service for all products sold by Circuit City.

The operation here is a Circuit City Superstore .Circuit City was founded 50 years ago, in 1949, as Ward Company, at Richmond, Va.

Today, the company has more than 580 stores, with about 500 superstores, with plans for 40 more openings before the end of the year.

Circuit City has more than 20 distribution centers.

A number of Circuit City superstores are located in Missouri -- seven in the St. Louis area, and one each in Columbia and Springfield.
