Circuit City is now officially open in Cape Girardeau.
Between 200 and 300 people were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday that officially opened the newest retail store at 164 Siemers Drive in Cape Girardeau Business Park. The store, a retailer of brand-name consumer electronics, personal computers and household appliances, actually opened Nov. 8, four days before the grand opening.
Circuit City will be open seven days a week 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Glenn Flynn is manager of the new store, located in a new, 17,000-square-foot facility.
The first 200 people into the store Friday and Saturday received free gifts.
Registration for three special prizes will continue this week. The prizes include a computer system, digital camcorder and a 27-inch television set. The local store will employ about 60 workers.
