Christ Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau knows that divorce is a reality in today's society and that it can be a painful, heart-wrenching experience for many.
The church will again sponsor a ministry program, DivorceCare, that offers support groups and Christian teachings about divorce and healing.
A brochure distributed by the church says the program teaches people not only how to deal with their pain but how to rebuild their lives.
The 13-week course begins Sept. 5 and will end Nov. 28. The class meets from 7-9 p.m. each Tuesday at the church on Lexington Avenue.
A $35 donation is requested for advanced registration. The cost covers a workbook, materials and refreshments.
The program is nondenominational and centers on biblical teachings that videotape series. Experts will talk about facing anger, depression and loneliness, financial survival and building new relationships, as well as forgiveness and reconciliation.
Participants are also part of small-group discussions led by church members and course graduates.
For more information or to register, contact the Rev. Art Hunt at 334-6292 at the church office or by e-mail at christepchurch@dotplanet.com.
