The Jackson Elks are making plans for its annual Christmas Basket Project. The Elks will be working with local groups in making this a community effort to help the needy.
Last year more than 200 families were given a basic assortment of food items -- hams, canned food, toys, gloves, scarves, coats and diapers for families with small children.
This project will require a great deal of financial help. A goal of $4,000 is needed to make this a successful project. The lodge is presently conducting a fund-raising drive.
Members are asking local businesses and companies to help meet the goal. Individuals are also encouraged to make a donation.
Tax deductible contributions may be made payable to the Jackson Elks Christmas Fund to: Jackson Elks Lodge # 2652, Joe Brice, Treasurer, 542 W. Independence St. Jackson, Mo., 63755
