"We have really been pleased with the results of our major works concerts; they have become community `cultural events,'" said Dr. John Egbert, director of the Choral Union. "Although I would like to see a greater community participation, those who have joined us have thoroughly enjoyed that experience."

He said performances of such significant works as Haydn's "Creation," Honegger's "King David" and Orff's "Carmina Burana," not only provide the community with outstanding cultural events, but also provide area singers the opportunity to perform some of the world's greatest music.

"Messiah," last performed at Southeast in 1993-1994, is the longest running musical work of all time.

The Choral Union currently is recruiting new members of all voice parts, but is especially looking for additional tenors and basses. Anyone interested in joining the choir can simply begin attending rehearsals or contact Egbert at 651-2342.
