Cape Girardeau's downtown merchants know that Christmas shopping can be challenging for anyone. Throw in the fact that you're too young to have a driver's license or credit cards, and you could have a real dilemma on your hands.
In order to help alleviate these obstacles for Christmas shopping youth, specifically those age 3 to 12, Old Town Cape will be sponsoring a Santa's Workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday and again on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The workshop will be located in the old Craftsman Office Supply building on the corner of Broadway and Pacific. Santa's elves will be on hand to help participating children select gifts for their family and friends. Shopping is for children only. All presents will cost $15 or less.
"Santa's workshop is designed to let our younger customers select Christmas presents from some Old Town Cape merchants," said Marsha Toll, promotions chairperson. "We ask that children bring a list with the people they wish to buy gifts for to help in the shopping process."
Parents can either leave their children at the workshop for up to 30 minutes, or they can wait in a designated area on-site while their children shop. Wrapping will also be available so recipients can be surprised on Christmas Day.
