Southeast Missouri Child Care Resource and Referral has received a three-year, $180,000 child-care development block grant from the Missouri Department of Health.
The agency provides child-care referrals by linking parents and potential child-care providers. It also offers consumer education for parents, resource information for families and child-care professionals, data collection, training and newsletters.
The three-year grant is a renewal of an initial grant awarded to the Southeast Missouri Child Care Resource and Referral in June 1995. During the past year, over 350 parents and 900 child-care providers in 19 Southeast Missouri counties have received assistance from the agency.
The agency is located in the Department of Human Environmental Studies' Workshop on Wheels office in the Scully Building on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
Co-administrators of the grant are Dr. Susan Haugland, director of the Center for Child Studies and professor of human environmental studies; and Dr. Gloysis Mayers, assistant professor of human environmental studies. Maryiln Schlosser is coordinator of the service.
