A recently awarded $10,000 grant from Jewelers for Children will benefit the neglected and abused children of Cape Girardeau, Perry and Bollinger counties.
Court Appointed Special Advocates, the recipient of the grant, plans to train more volunteers to serve more children. The training will begin Jan. 26.
Since 2003, JFC has funded support services for more than 300 communities of abused and neglected children nationwide.

More than 70 local CASA/Guardian Ad Litem programs will receive funds this year from a $1 million national grant by JFC administered by the National CASA Association.
"JFC's unwavering support will provide critical advocacy services to children forced to navigate the child protection system this year," said Michael Piraino, National CASA Association chief executive officer.
The National CASA Association provides leadership to nearly 900 state and local program offices.
CASA of Southeast Missouri was established in 1991. The child advocacy group served 107 children last year. In 2007, 89 children received one-on-one advocacy services.
