CHICAGO -- Chicago police were searching on Christmas Day for a woman who they believe kidnapped a 16-month-old girl from a Greyhound bus station in downtown Chicago.

The child's mother, 21-year-old Marcella Anderson of Milwaukee, was at the Greyhound bus station Monday night with her two daughters. A woman befriended Anderson and offered to give the three a ride to Milwaukee.

The woman then persuaded Anderson to leave her daughter, Jasmine, in her care as Anderson took her 3-year-old daughter to return the bus tickets, according to police.

While Anderson was cashing in her ticket, the woman fled with Jasmine, police said.
