SIKESTON, Mo. -- A police pursuit Friday that started in Sikeston ended at the front door of the Scott County Sheriff's Department.
According to a release from Sikeston police, officers stopped Stephen D. Flye, 35, of Cape Girardeau at about 5:20 p.m. Friday. As officers were approaching the car, the suspect fled in his vehicle. Officers pursued him north on U.S. 61, through Haywood City, through Morley and into Benton. The pursuit ended when Flye surrendered at the front door of the Scott County Sheriff's Department, the release said. Flye was transported back to Sikeston.
Police said a large plastic bag contained about 4 pounds of marijuana was thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit.
Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd charged Flye with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and resisting arrest. Flye posted $75,000 bond and is awaiting arraignment.
