Nearly 4,000 school children will see the classic story of Charlotte the spider who saves Wilbur the pig's life brought to the stage Monday.

"Charlotte's Web" will be performed at the Show Me Center Monday at 9:30 and again at 11:30 a.m. The first performance is sold out, but seats are available for the second show.

"It's a live theater production with six actors from a company in California," said Gina Anderson, education director for Living Arts for Students, the promoters bringing the play here.

Anderson said the play closely follows the story of the classic children's book by E.B. White.

Wilbur the pig wins a blue ribbon at the county fair, but is slated for slaughter when Charlotte the spider spins a message in her web, saving his life.

Anderson said the production is touring the country and is designed for children. "It's children's theater," she said, "but it's delightful. Adults will enjoy it too."

Admission is $3.75 per person and some tickets for the 11:30 a.m. performance are available at the door.
