CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Charleston man wanted for shooting a vehicle was arrested Thursday.
Mujahid Muhammad McKinney, 33, is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, armed criminal action, assault and property damage, said Charleston Department of Public Safety director Robert Hearnes.
About 1 p.m. Sept. 12, Charleston officers investigated a report of gunshots in the 700 block of Warren Street, Hearnes said. When they arrived, officers found a vehicle that had been shot several times parked at 708 Warren St., next to a playground.
McKinney was identified as the shooter, but officers were unable to find him, and a warrant for McKinney's arrest was issued, Hearnes said.
"On Thursday evening, an officer observed McKinney on South Elm Street. After a brief foot pursuit, McKinney was taken into custody," Hearnes said.
McKinney is being held in the Mississippi County Jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday before Judge S. Rob Barker.
"This case is still under investigation and additional charges are pending," Hearnes said.
