CHARLESTON -- Deidre DeLaney of Charleston has been selected as a regional semifinalist in Teen magazine's 1991 Great Model Search.
She appears in the April 1991 issue of Teen. She is now being considered for the next level of the Great Model Search.
Of the approximately 24,000 entries received, 480 are chosen as regional semifinalists. Photos of the semifinalists will appear in the magazine from January through May.
The field is narrowed to 16 super semifinalists for each region and finally to 12 finalists.
If DeLaney is chosen as the 1991 Model Discovery of the Year, she will receive a $5,000 cash award from Mabelline, an appearance in a national Maybelline ad, a trip for two to a resort area from Tropical Blend, and a wardrobe of Mike Benet Formals.
The winner will also appear on the cover of the October 1991 issue of Teen.
She is an honor student at Charleston High School, where she is a junior. She is a majorette and cheerleader.
DeLaney is the reigning Marching Auxiliaries of American Outstanding High School Twirler and was second alternate in Arthur's Teen Model Search.
She is a member of the concert and marching bands, the girl's softball team, National Honor Society, Library Club, Future Teachers of America, Students Against Driving Drunk, Varsity Quiz Bowl, Swing Choir, Girl Scouts and the Tunesmiths Music Club.
She is the daughter of Donna Delaney Adams and the late Joe DeLaney and is the stepdaughter of Danny Adams.
