Final totals revealed about 1,775 underserved adults and children received more than $961,580 worth of free dental care last week during the Missouri Mission of Mercy free dental clinic, according to a Mission of Mercy news release.

The two-day clinic, sponsored by the Missouri Dental Association and the Missouri Dental Association Foundation, was in the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau and offered teeth cleaning, fillings and extractions to children and adults who might not otherwise have been able to afford the services.

The news release also said more than 1,000 volunteers participated in the event, which provided 1,165 filings and 2,600 extractions to patients, some of whom camped out in front of the Show Me Center the day before the event to ensure they received care at the first-come, first-served clinic.
